Dr. Reinhard Sigel
Independent Physicist | Light Scattering & Soft Matter Research
Welcome! I am an independent physicist specializing in experimental colloid and interface research. My work combines advanced light scattering methods with the investigation of soft matter – from polymers and colloids to complex interfacial systems.
After more than 15 years at leading research institutions – including the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, the Adolphe Merkle Institute in Fribourg, and the German University in Cairo – I now work as an independent scientist. This independence allows me to pursue innovative research questions and develop novel methodological approaches.
My current research focus is on Dynamic Mueller Matrix Spectroscopy – an extension of classical dynamic light scattering that captures polarization-dependent correlation functions, enabling new insights into shape and structural fluctuations of soft colloidal systems.

My current research focus is based in my home region at Lake Constance. My laboratory in Markdorf and my cooperation with the University of Konstanz offer me a wide field for my research.
